   Tour of Westminster Hall

   Transcript

Behind me is the magnificent Westminster Hall which is the oldest part of the Palace of Westminster. We are actually going into somewhere which is known as the Westminster Hall Chamber and this is where Members of Parliament  can have debates about specific issues of interest to their constituency. In this chamber here I’ve had debates about several issues. I’ve held debates where ministers have come to answer to questions that I’ve posed on behalf of constituents. For example, just over a year ago I had a debate really highlighting concerns Roves Farm had. Roves Farm, a much loved Swindon institution, were very worried about the way they were treated by the Health and Safety Executive so I had a debate here highlighting those concerns and ministers came to answer for it. I’ve also held a debate here about affordable housing a really big important issue for Swindon. This is a place where for half an hour or so, sometimes even longer, MPs can talk about issues of real concern in their constituencies.
