Every day hundreds of letters come into this office and into the office at the Pinehurst Peoples Centre in Swindon, many of them from constituents asking for help and I try to deal very quickly with those, often urgent cases. Most letters I try to deal within twenty four hours, certainly within two to three day for the most part, sometimes it takes a week, but no longer than that I hope.  I get all sorts of letters from public bodies, lobbying for my support on various things. There’s stuff on climate change here, there’s stuff on freedom of information, something I’m very concerned about. I think it’s very important the public get proper information. There’s a lot about that.  Then over here, there’s various pamphlets on democracy, more on climate change, a lot of stuff about climate change, something about the welfare state and so on.  So everyday there is a huge amount of reading to do of people’s letters, and there’s writing the letters back as well.
